The Palm Oil Controversy

Owning a company is an opportunity to make a difference. I like to think of myself as a responsible inhabitant of this planet. I have a genuine care for our mother earth and the living beings that inhabit her. Among other efforts to preserve our resources, SoaPure creates as little waste as possible when producing and packaging soap. We recycle and reuse everything we can. I also educate myself about how my company's ingredients are obtained and where they come from. I am hyper aware of the deforestation of peat-lands for the development of palm oil plantations. These forests inhabit orangutans and other precious species who are now endangered as a result of the commercial production of palm oil.

SoaPure's palm oil supplier is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. The RSPO's mission is to transform markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm. RSPO developed a set of environmental and social criteria which companies must comply with in order to produce Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). The continued responsible production of palm oil is also vital for the economy of some countries such as Malaysia. So, for now I feel comfortable using palm oil in my soaps. It lends wonderful properties to the soap that are unique to palm.

I pledge to remain aware of any new findings surrounding palm oil production and will never intentionally use products that hurt the environment or its living creatures.
